When I first moved from New York City to Montreal many years ago, I was interested in exploring Montreal designers and someone pointed me in the direction of General 54, a cozy boutique in the Mile End of Montreal. I remember thinking what a friendly, creative, and original store it was and continue to shop there + recommend it highly to others. I actually have a dress that one of the owners, Jennifer Glasgow, made soon after the shop opened in 2004, and it is one of my favorite items in my wardrobe to this day! I especially love General 54’s focus on showcasing local + Canadian designers that are sustainable + original, with a playful twist. Today’s post and photos are from Jennifer about the holiday season at General 54.
General 54 has been in operation since 2006. It began because we saw our talented friends producing beautiful pieces with nowhere to sell them. Our investment to our neighborhood has never waned as we now carry over 50 local and Canadian brands. Everything we carry is made with love, inspiration and great attention to quality.
Our new location at 5145 St Laurent has given us a chance to build a showroom that we feel represents our designers’ work while providing a comfortable inviting space for our customers.
For this holiday season, General 54 has found some of the most beautiful collections. Little collections of hand made jewelry, all natural perfumes and a huge assortment of accessories that are easy, inspired gifts. On our blog, we feature updates on our designers as well as ongoing features in the store.
This week, you can check out the Ode to a Gift Guide..under $40 which is a thoughtfully curated selection of gifts. We always have our gift certificates available and our month of December will be full of promotions so please come visit us in store or check our website for updates!
